From 20 to 23 March 2023, Célina Guichenduc will be a member of the jury and David Lutran will be the president of the jury of this French-speaking competition welcoming schools and universities in France and abroad.

Investment mediation in Africa
David Lutran lectured at the D.U. of International Economic Law in Africa – Panthéon-Assas University on the theme of “mediation in investment matters in Africa” which ended with a staging of international mediation during which some of the students were able to play the roles of the various actors in an international mediation for 1h30.

International Commercial Mediation Competition organised by the ICC – 5 to 11 February 2021 / 7 to 15 February 2022 / 6 to 11 February 2023
David Lutran will participate for the third time as a jury member for the Competition. The 18th edition will take place at the ICC headquarters in February 2023.
The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition is a world-renowned moot that holds over 100 mock mediation sessions over seven days to determine the winning team.
48 student teams from around the world are selected to compete and over 120 professional mediators and trainers participate each year on a voluntary basis to share their expertise and passion for mediation. Some will act as mediators, drawing on their own experience in resolving cross-border disputes, while others will act as judges, assessing each team’s negotiation and problem-solving skills, as well as their ability to use the mediator effectively.

David Lutran spoke at the DU/LLM International Business Litigation of the University of Paris Est Créteil, on the topic “International mediation”. He taught international mediation during an 8-hour module, followed by a mediation simulation.

David Lutran spoke at the DESU Law and practice of mediation and negotiation in business law at the University of Aix Marseille – 4 June 2021. He outlined the contributions of the Singapore Convention to international mediation and demonstrated that it embodies international transactional justice.

Each year, the competition brings together more than a hundred students who compete in a series of simulated mediations, in which they play the role of mediator. The students are judged by a jury of professionals from the legal, economic and judicial worlds.

Alongside Alain Fénéon, Romain Carayol and Mamary Diarra, David Lutran spoke on the following topics: (1) “General introduction to mediation in Africa” (30 November 2020); (2) “The mediation process and its ethical aspects” (7 December 2020); (3) “Understanding the practice of mediation and its interest through experience feedback”.

David Lutran taught a 20-hour course on civil mediation in the 2020-2021 academic year.
